Mini Borage Honeycomb Frame
Succulent British Borage Honeycomb Frame
This is a first, our stunning Borage honeycomb section, this is a mini frame that was put into the hives for the bees to produce the beautiful honeycomb onto. Harvested in early August, with just a 3 week period where the bees produce this gorgeous unique floral honey which is deposited into the comb.
This honeycomb is so popular that we decided to try this unique approach - and now we introduce this gorgeous honeycomb in a mini frame section for you to cut - fresh in your home
The honey in the comb, also known as starflower, has a very pleasant mild taste with hints of flora. It is one of the lightest coloured honeys available with a smooth consistency and one of our best selling British varieties.
A unique honeycomb in its profile, texture and taste. this is a first with borage, it is time consuming to make these mini frames and then hope the bees construct the honeycomb appropriately, out of 100 frames that we installed only 30 were filled adequately.
Therefore only 30 are available this year! The price reflects the uniqueness of the product and its scarcity along with the hard work and time that went into each frame. We are hoping to have a better harvest next year but as a natural product.. its down to the bees, weather, and flora!
The mini frame measures 11x11cm and 4cm deep.
The weight of the comb is approximately 380-420g
A common question we are asked is regarding the wax and if it can be eaten. The simple answer is yes you can! Although it can be very chewy and makes for a good, natural alternative to chewing gum. However, it isn't advisable for it to be consumed in large quantities.
