Pure Yemeni Sidr
A Stunning Rare Caramel-Like Honey (Lab Tested)
We invite you to experience the rich flavour and delightful aroma of this exclusive pure Sidr Honey from the famous Wadi Do’an in Yemen. This honey (known as the jewel of Yemen) is harvested from the nectar of a single floral source, the Sidr Tree (Lote Tree) to give you a distinct and stunning palatal pleasure for honey enthusiasts. Nothing is added or taken away, it is 100% cold-pressed and raw. This is one of the most exclusive and sought-after honeys in the world.
We recently conducted Total Activity (TA) testing on this variety to assess its antimicrobial efficacy, it achieved a remarkable TA rating of 13.5, well above the benchmark of 10.
The Total Activity (TA) rating assesses both Peroxide Activity (PA) and Non-Peroxide Activity (NPA).
Unlike the Manuka MGO (methylglyoxal) rating, which focuses solely on the concentration of a single antibacterial compound in Manuka honey, Total Activity testing provides a more comprehensive view of honey's overall quality and health benefits
Here’s a comparison of TA ratings with MGO/UMF levels:
TA Rating | MGO/UMF
20+ | 829
15+ | 550
10+ | 263
This special harvest is concentrated and has a very distinct but strong smell of sidr which is a deep, slightly warm honey smell, lacking that floral over-sweetness. The honey has been cold pressed directly from the hives and only coarse filtered. It is lab tested, in the UK, so you can be sure it is unadulterated as well as unheated (unpasteurised) to protect the natural components within the honey that give it the vast health-supporting properties.
The Sidr (lote) tree is mentioned 4 times in the Qur'an and honey is spoken of highly within the realms of Islam. This goes to show the significance of honey.
This honey has a relatively high fructose content, meaning it doesn't crystallise but becomes thicker in texture. This Sidr honey is rich in vitamins: A, B1, B2, B3, C, D and E.
It has also been found to have a pH that is the same as the pH of the human body, this means it is easily absorbed and processed by the body quicker. Difficulty in transporting this monofloral honey also adds to the cost and is one of the reasons of its scarcity.
Uses
With its rich flavour and superior taste it is advisable to take this honey as and when required.
